| What is the Coalition for Sustainable Nutrition Security in India? |
| The Coalition for Sustainable Nutrition Security in India, is a network of members committed to see an end to malnutrition in India. They are working together to influence policy and programme decisions at the national and state levels to achieve sustainable nutrition security in India. It consists of a Steering Committee and Task Forces. Professor MS Swaminathan, an internationally recognised and respected leader in agricultural sciences and nutrition, and a Member of Parliament, chairs the Coalition. |

| The Coalition works to influence policy and programme decisions at the national and state levels to achieve sustainable nutrition security in India. |

| Who are its Steering Committee members? |
| Professor MS Swaminathan, an internationally recognised and respected leader in agricultural sciences and nutrition, and a Member of Parliament, is chairperson of the Coalition. The Coalition Steering Committee is a high level group of about 30 members drawn, from policy, programme and political leaders, such as Government ministers and senior representatives from the Planning Commission introduce the media, NGOs, national and international development partners and the private sector. | How can I become a member of the Coalition? Is there a membership fee? |
| There is no formal membership necessary to become part of the Coalition. Any individual or organisation interested in seeing an end to malnutrition in India can become a member. We encourage them to join us in this effort for a nutrition secure India. Those interested should contact the Coalition Secretariat to be added to the organisation's electronic mailing list, which will send updates and invitations to any upcoming nutrition events. |

| What is the composition and function of the Coalition? |
| The Coalition consists of a Steering Committee and Task Forces. The Task Forces will work on specific issues and report to Coalition Steering Committee. The Steering Committee normally meets twice a year. The Task Forces meet as needed. The USAID supported Vistaar Project serves as the Secretariat for the Coalition. |

| What are its ongoing activities? |
| The Coalition has developed a Leadership Agenda for Action and is committed to furthering this in order to ensure the end of malnutrition in India. Consequently, the Coalition is committed to continuing its advocacy with policy makers and programme implementers to disseminate the Leadership Agenda for Action, and to assist in the operationalisation of the Agenda at the national and state levels. The Task Forces and Coalition Steering Committee are working with various stakeholders to influence policy and programmes to implement the recommendations. See workplan for detailed activities. |

| How is Coalition different from the Coalition Steering Committee? |
| The Coalition Steering Committee comprises of around 30 members, a high level group of policy, programme and political leaders introduce the media, NGOs, national and international development partners and the private sector. The Coalition is a bigger network of individuals and organisations working through the power of partnership for Nutrition Security in India. |

| What is Leadership Agenda for Action? |
In late 2008, the Coalition called for expert Task Forces to prepare a Leadership Agenda for Action, with facilitation and administrative support from the Secretariat. The purpose of this document is to increase efforts to address nutrition security and to provide Indian programme leaders with the most effective, evidence based recommendations to improve nutrition security in India. The Task Forces included experts from a diverse group of Government and civil society organisations, such as Government ministries, Government apex training institutions, the National Health Systems Resource Center, UNICEF, WHO, World Bank, USAID, DFID introduce the International Food Policy Research Institute, the Nutrition Foundation of India, CARE, and a number of other agencies. The experts worked in a collaborative manner to produce several sections for the Leadership Agenda:

| How can I operationalise the Leadership Agenda? |
| We encourage everyone who wants to see an end to malnutrition in India to join us in this effort to operationalise the recommendations of Leadership Agenda at the regional, state, district and sub-district levels.
